Well, actually, when Don Bluth was hired on by
Fox Animation to run it a few years back, he and
his team had to totally relearn animation using
the digital tools. Don said he wasnt sure about
it at first. With cels and paint, you have
somewhat more control over what you are going to
get. Digital has a lot of wierdness that comes
with it. Colors are off a lot of times,
crashing, corruption, it's all there. I have
done traditional animation, and digital
animation. Both have strong points, and bad
points. But, if you look at films like American
Tale, which was all hand done, and Titan A.E.
which was all digitaly done, Titan just looses
something with the digital. Computers are
extrememly handy in doing stuff, but, it all
depends on the user. I hope, for the sake of
art, that everyone doesnt totally give up on the
old way. |
