I agree that the scheduling for the a-kon guests
was not pleasant. I waited for almost an hour in
line to meet the character designers for Fatal
Fury (for a friend) and Saber Marionette J, but
they kept making us wait. It was so hot in the
area they stuck the signing in, and I had another
panel I had to attend, so I had to leave.
On the other hand, meeting the american guests
went really well. They gave us enough time to get
their autographs, and to let us have our pictures
taken with them if we wanted with our own
cameras. I still need to get my pics developed,
with my pic of me with Crispin Freeman and Lisa
Ortiz. ^^
The cel gathering at a-kon was also really nice,
though the room they gave us was in the middle of
no where on the third floor of the westin.
However they gave us unlimited time for the room,
so that was really nice, and no one bothered us.
I never got a chance to see the cosplay. Out of
the 6,000 people who attended, the room for the
cosplay only held 250. When I got in line I was
numbered 280something, so I just left and headed
to the theater for the ah my goddess movie.
Whoever set off that stupid fire alarm really
pissed a lot of people off. The ah my goddess
theater room was also way too small, over half
the people in there got kicked out because of
fire marshal orders. I had to wait an hour and a
half to gain a seat in the second row for the
movie, and I wasn't going to lose it because some
idiot decided to pull a stunt with the fire alarm.
Overall the con was alright, if I hadn;t found a
FY cosplay group to hang out with while wearing
my Suboshi costume, I doubt I would return next
year. The theaters were too commercialized and
you couldn't see the screens, the panels were the
same as last year, and you had no chance to see
the cosplay. The one highlight was getting to
meet Crispin Freeman, and attending his 2 and a
half hour long panel. ;) and of course costuming
for the first time.
Ah well, off to Otakon I go. T_T |
