I went to both Animazement, and Project Akon this
year. I must say, it seems that these cons dont
know how much their popularity has grown. AZ was
pretty good, if a little stale. The only thing I
had fun at at that con was the Yuu Watase
meetings, and signings. The con was small enough
that Watase-sama could walk around as much as she
wanted, and talk with everyone she wanted! She
even came to my friend's little party thing she
had for her! She took pics with us, and was very
friendly. Then the next day, I was looking
through the ANC cels when there was FINALLY
enough room to breath, when all of a sudden I
felt someone pushing at my back to get through!
I was like "Oh no, not today, YOU are going to
have to wait this time!" Little did I know it
was miss Yuu herself! Did I jump out of the way
or what? So, AZ was really cool that way, it was
a very small, quiet con, but it had a nice
intimate sort of ambiance :)
Akon, however, sounds just like AX this year.
Madhouse. It was horrid, the staff were like
ogres, all they did was yell at people. Then,
they got mad because no one was at the signing
table for the Japanese guests. But, they had
switched around ths schedule, so that none of the
con goers knew about it! We all thought the
sessions were at 3 pm or so, and around noon they
started bellowing throughout the dealers room to
get stuff signed or else! The viewing rooms were
terrible, so much for seeing the AMG movie. And,
the screens were so low, that the only way you
could see the subs was if you sat in the very
front row. And, in good old Akon fashion, some
nitwit set off the fire alarm...again. Not to
mention the "naked hotel run"..dont ask. The con
was horribly organized all around, and dont even
get me started on the art auction.....
So, it seems like most of the cons nowadays are
just not very well put up. Dont know what the
deal is. I think there are too many fans now,
and the staff cant deal with them all. I hope it
gets better.....or I wont be going to anymore big
events. |
