Well, you have a point there, but... (Fri May 18 22:34:59 2001 )

Dear Friend,

Well, you have a point there about people
preferring to sell their goods, however limited
they are, to reliable regular customers =/ who
always follow through a transaction. However, if
this were a dealer's policy, it would drastically
reduce their sales. If a dealer did this on a
constant bases, as Trebuchet said, it would ruin
their reputation with new and old customers alike.
Old customers would feel cheated, and some might
even decide to boycott the dealer all together.
If new customers heard about this, they would be
very discouraged to even try at all, and thus find
another outlet that would play fair.

Plus, there is also no guarantee that the regular
customers would snap up all the cels in sight too
since a customer's wants and purchases changes
constantly as their collection and tastes change.
It would also be more work for any dealer to do
this since they would have to contact each level
every time they update.

Also, if a dealer saves all their best stuff for
their regular customers, they wouldn't be able to
attract newer customers =/ because all the newer
customers would be left with leftovers. You have
to maintain a steady customer base after all
right?

Taro and many of the dealers here are NOT
Sotheby's. If they were, all of us would not be
able to afford anything 8( (Those prices at
Sotheby's are just outrageous!). In the case of
those large auction houses where the 'cream' of
the crop is well over U.S.$100K or even U.S.$1M
or more, I can understand the caution O_O there
for levels of clinetele. Still, Sotheby's is an
auction house, so if they did set aside all the
great stuff with buy out prices, they would never
get any of the high bids the liquidator or seller
is looking for when they use their service =/.
Also, many of the cels everyone here vies for at
Taro is usually from U.S.$20.00 - U.S.$200.00
which is small compared to Sotheby's stuff.

I understand your point, but making accusations
without proof is considered slanderous. Like I
said, I have been buying stuff from Taro for 3 or
so years, and I have never noticed any favoritism.
Yes, I know that you will probably say that those
who have been favored by any dealer probably won't
speak up for fear of losing their status =(. Sigh
what else can I say though?

Sincerely,

Sonia
