I seriously doubt this issue will ever be
resolved. There are people who're argue to death
for both sides. Telling someone to grow up though
is a weak rebutal to the point the person made
that when a large number of collectors try and
speculate they can create artifical surges in
prices and inevitable crashes. That's all I'm
going to say on the subject. :)
Okay, so there are those people who try and buy
and sell for profit. Fine. For once I'd like to
hear a good story. If you collect toys you might
know something about toy karma -- people sending
toys out for free to other collectors. Or if you
become friends with people on a comic message
board, how they'll send comic books to you for
free or for the price they bought it at a local
comic book shop.
I'll start:
There was a seller on ebay who sold me a Ranma
opening cel for the price she initially bought it
at a few months earlier. She could have changed
her mind at the last minute when one of the cels
from the same sequence rocketed up in price at
the last minute -- something I couldn't blame her
for -- but she decided to go through with the
sale anyway. I sincerely thank her for this.
I'd also like to thank a collector who surprised
me by selling me an Escaflowne cel for lower than
my initial offer.
See -- even though the world is a cruel place,
nice and generous things still happen in it. :) |
