Almost a year ago, I emailed a Japanese dealer to
purchase a Shayla cel (I believe it was the one
below), listed at 3000 yen. I sent the email
less than an hour after the dealer’s update late
at night. The reply informed me the cel had been
sold.
About 10 days later, the same cel (I examined the
two images in detail at the time) is listed on
ebay by parallax. I stopped watching the auction
after the bid exceeded $90 and the reserve had
not been met.
I’m not saying there’s anything inherently wrong
in doing this, but it surprised me that someone
of Nick’s standing in this community would pull a
stunt like that, especially after so many people
who have done this type of thing have been
vilified in this forum. In the end, it has cost
him several hundred dollars in purchases of cels
that remain on his site.
