The way I feel about sketches is that if an artist
is nice enough to take the time out of his 
schedule to do a personalized sketch for me, I
can never in good conscience sell the sketch for
money.  A lot of other people feel this way, which
is why sketches are pretty rare -- people don't
want to part with them.  I have seen dealers
selling them at cons on a couple of occasions,
though.
