I would agree, "begging" has it's place. Not so much in driving people batty by bugging them every single time they get a cel you'd like to have, but by letting people know that you are interested in cels like that one- at least to me, it seems logical that if they really like that cel they'd probably like similar ones. What happens with me, is that I buy a cel I like, and maybe later find one I like more. If someone asks me about the one I just bought, I can say, "Hey, that one's not for sale, but I have this one, if you're interested." Or maybe a financial problem cropped up, and so you need money and selling the cel is less painful than your left kidney. Or else maybe you're not broke, but like Yann said, you might get a really sweet deal by getting something you like more. Or what happens once in a while- the cel looks good in that 3" x 2" scan, but in real life it's not what you thought. So I guess the idea is to make yourself a potential customer instead of a nuisance. I had someone "beg" me for a cel I bought, and while I didn't sell that one, I thought of her later when I was looking to sell a different one, and she bought that one and seemed quite glad. I really like the idea of helping one another out- there are people that have been wonderful to me and I try and do things for others- being informed of a new dealer or a cel from a private collection for sale can be really helpful and very much appreciated. |
