...is two things:

1. Yep, some of those cels just went, ah, missing, from
the studio, much in the same way that tape dispensers
just have a way of leaving a regular office.  Which is to
say that an employee or two thought to snag some souveniers.

2. While not releasing the cels to the public, I have heard
that occasionally Gainax will let its employees have a few
selections.  That could also be how a surprising number of
nice pieces have turned up recently.

Man, sometimes it's nice being a collector of AIC material.
