Wow... that's a lot of questions ^_^ Okay, the first part of your question is pretty much depends on A) the pencil drawing and B) personal preference. For example, if you've got a pencil sketch that is missing pertinent parts, like part of the character's head, then it probably wouldn't look to cool display it. I usually cut two seperate holes in a piece of matt board and put the cel in one and the drawing in the other. Some people prefer to offset the cel and the drawing and display them as one. This works okay if the cel and drawing line up well enough that you don't have a gap between the edge of the cel and the paper. On cels without backgrounds I like to place a black backing. The bright colors stand out nicely on black (unless, of course, the character has a lot of black on them - like their hair). If black won't work on a particular cel, I just use white. My feeling is that the colors usually look cheap. I wouldn't recommend dry mounting the pencil. One, it's unique, so if something happens to it, it cannot be replaced. Two, if you're buying it as an investment, it will probably lose value if it is modified in any way. That's how it works in movie posters, so I'm assuming the same is true for pencil sketches. I like to display a show together with all of one character grouped together within that show grouping. I don't know whether any of this would be considered wisdom ^_^ Hope it is of use to you just the same. |
