In a perfect world, it would mean that producers could
crank out cels by the thousands, printed on demand. (Can
you imagine visiting a web page where you can tag a
particular sequence of cels to have printed up? ^_^) After
all, Disney stores sell quite a few "cels" from sequences
that were largely done via computer-aided techniques.
Yes, cels would lose some of that "unique" / "actually used
in production" sort of feel. Given the recent popularity
of EVA reproduction cels, that may not be as large a factor
for some collectors as it used to be. I suspect that with
limited runs, signed editions, etc. companies could
continue to maintain a profit margin if they wanted one. |
