Hi all! I just received (and updated!) a couple
new Rantarou cels. However, I notice something
weird with one of them, and I thought I'd ask
here. First, here's a scan of the cel in
question: it's Hemuhemu (the dog). It's not a
high-quality shot or anything, and it was
extremely cheap (he came with three other cels
and I only paid 100 yen for the whole set). Oh,
and the other three cels are completely standard
cels of a different character.

Now the strange parts. First off, there are no registration holes. That in-and-of-itself isn't too unusual - there's cellophane tape across the bottom of the cel, and I assume that a strip with holes was probably attached to the bottom of the cel. I have other cels like that (with taped-on registration holes) from other series - Hunter x Hunter, LoGH, etc. However, there's also no sequence number on this cel. The cel itself is slightly non-standard - the edges are cut oddly. Two of the edges (bottom and right) are straight and look machine-cut. The left edge isn't straight and looks like it was cut by hand, maybe with a pair of scissors. And the top edge is really strange - it's all serrated. It looks almost like it was torn off a roll like Saran Wrap. Here's a partial scan of the top and left edges.

Now, I have no reason to believe it's anything other than a production cel (there's no reason anyone would bother to make a fake cel like this). I guess I just want to know if this is common - has anyone ever seen a cel like this before? I know some of my over-size cels sometimes have edges that look like they were cut by hand, but I've never seen the weird serrated edge before.

Oh, and off-topic - One Piece fans check out the AWSOME toys I won at the arcade yesterday! Drooooool!!! http://users.ev1.net/~jcaliff/temp/toys/toys .htm Jennifer
