 The basic issue is that an artist has some right 
to the image they create. Hacking up someones 
work to make a derivitive... well I don't want to 
be a troll and this is off topic.  

I think this has been discussed before at least 
in simmilar circumstances, such as people 
borrowing scans of cels. The internet's created a 
lot of grey areas.
