IMO try... (Sun Jul 21 03:20:11 2002 )

1)charging it - you can pay off the installments
or lumpsum when you GET a job. If you are
knowingly to go into debt over a cel (I wouldn't
advise it though), hopefully you are responsible
with your finances to pay off the debt asap. 2)
Forget other collectors, they aren't here to help
you purchase a cel, if they want it bad enough
they'll buy it first! Remember if you snooze you
will lose in cel collecting. This obsession is
positively NOT for the faint of heart or meager
in financial resources. 3)If you are in college,
try selling your eggs if you are a woman or sperm
if you are a guy. If you don't have moral issues
with either then, try it. You might not qualify
due to age, biological history or whatnot, but
its worth a try in any event. 4)Take on some odd
tempjobs, legal positions pay well especially if
you have a paralegal certificate. Also legal word
processors are paid decent enough that after two
paychecks you should be able to afford that cel
too. In any event, there are alternatives, but
the key is, if that cel is a dream cel, bite the
bullet and charge it. If you lose it, it'll be
mainly due to your own lack of initiation. 5)
Lastly, don't ask a dealer to set up a lay away
plan, you aren't buying an engagement ring, a
car, a 40" plasma tv, or anything remotely
expensive enough to warrant it. Look at it from
their perspective, considering that you might not
have ever purhased anything from them (i.e. in
their opinion you are a newbe - possibly
irresponsible), and how you cannot pay in a
lumpsum. If you aren't able to pay there are
bound to be others who will and who can. But then
again, these are all just my opinions only. Good
luck.
