When I purchased an IMPO at the local Post Office
today (to send to Japan to pay for a cel), the
Postmaster said "Pretty soon you won't be able to
get these".
Huh?
"We're getting out of this business" he says.
I ask, "Are you saying that this local Post
Office is getting out of stocking IPMOs, or the
whole U.S. Postal Service?"
He replied that "They told us that the whole USPS
is getting out of the business of selling IPMOs.
It's too much trouble to keep providing the
service".
I asked whether this would be announced, or would
it be dropped like a bomb with no warning. He
said he didn't know.
So, everyone who buys cels from the many dealers
who accept only pink IPMOs and cash: are we all
going to be sending a lot of cash to Japan in the
future? That doesn't sound very attractive to
me, given that two (2) of my Air Mail letters to
Japan have been significantly delayed by the
Postal Service in the last 6 weeks....
