Disney's biggest problems with animation these
days are:
1) they're too quick to rip off other people's
ideas
2) they're too cutesy and waaaay too cheesy
3) they're recycling their own plots time and
again.
As the article put it, if you have a GOOD story,
it will sell. Lilo and Stitch was a good story.
Spirit is not.
You know, they could even do "historical" fiction
like Mulan and Pocohontas, if only they would get
out of the '40's mind set and stop trying to make
the "we are the greatest and all things end
happily" stories that nobody believes anymore.
Even my little kids are tooooo dubious about that
sort of crap to buy it. |
