I'm sure Japan has a few, but I haven't heard
word one on the news about it.
Anyway, the other day I got in a large box from
Hong Kong. My uncle Dave is living with me for
now has become super-paranoid about SARS
thinking its gonna whipe out the world (he's
kinda a health nut). Anyway I decided to play
some mind games with him so I left the box on
the kitchen table where everyone comes in and
out of the house.
Dave comes walking in the door, looks at the
box, and just walks on by. I guess he didn't
realize where it came from at first. So I left
the box on the table for about 3 hours and
finally told him, "Hey man, you gonna open that
box for me?" He said, "Why?" I said, "Dude!
Its from Hong Kong! I don't wanna touch it!"
Next thing I know the guy is flipping out. "Get
that @#%#$% outta the house" he kept saying
while locked in his room.
Well I let him suffer for another 2 hours (all
the while locked in his room) and I decided to
open up the box and get the goodies out. I took
the goodies in my room leaving the empty box on
the table. I wasn't in my room for 2 mintues
and went back in the kitchen to clean up the
mess and throw the box away.
My uncle (with plastic gloves on) threw the box
outside in the middle of the driveway! I told
him, "Way to spread the epidemic Einstein!"
The whole time I was laughing so hard and Dave
just kept getting more and more mad. Talk about
paranoid.
Anyway, keep in mind its nothing more than an
advanced flu-like illness with about a 4%
mortality rate. Almost all the people who have
died from the disease were elderly or had weak
immune systems to begin with. Its not much
worse than the mortality rate for the regular
flew among the same demographics. At least
thats what the news guy tells me. =P |
