Pets are like family. People who reply to a show
me thread in support of a 'family member' should
be applauded, and it makes a person feel better
to see when there's an outpouring in response to
such a thread (show me's are a perfect example...
it shows people care). Shows that the cel
community is full of good people who will support
one and other in times of crisis - we arent' just
here to leech off one and other to further our
own collections and make others jelous of what we
have. That is why we are known as a "community" -
because community implies a level of friendship,
support and trust - even if you barely know the
person. It's good to know you have people's
shoulders to lean on - those people who are your
friends rather than your next customer.
Selling my cels wouldn't be something I'd do if
my cat were sick/dieing/etc (I doubt I have the
cel quality to raise any sort of money) - and it
doesn't mean I'm a bad person. Some people have
emergency savings, some people have a type of
medical coverage, some people are content to
charge it and pay off the Visa... personally I'd
raid my college fund. Even if I had no money
left after everything was said and done, I'd
still have my cat around to make me happy and to
drive me nuts ^_^ and that's all I could ask for.
Everyone makes some sort of personal sacrifice
when their pet becomes sick.
Selling your cels... could not possibly be the
only solution to financing medical help (it is a
solution for some people - but not others). And
if for some reason people think every person
who's pet becomes sick - that person should sell
their cels.... those people quite greedy...
leeching off another's misfortune o_o - those
people should be ashamed of themselves. That is
not how any 'community' should work.
Oops, it turned into an essay *skitters off*
