I mean, come on here... who cares if some
30-year-old man is fapping off to shoujo anime?
Do you SERIOUSLY believe, or worse yet contend,
that this is somehow going to cause him to rush
out and violate a teenager? Pshaw.
Despite what the religious right-wing nutballs
might tell you, there is no conclusive proof that
fantasizing about something causes a normal person
to act it out in real life. In fact, there is
copious research which indicates exactly the
opposite -- that fantasy of any sort is a good
outlet for the stresses of real life.
Now I for one play a lot of videogames. Many of
them are violent, and some of them are egregiously
so. Does that mean I spend my weekends hunting
hikers, carjacking commuters, or sniping from the
city rooftops? Of course not. Does it mean I
occasionally entertain happy thoughts of
rocket-propelled grenades while sitting in heavy
traffic? Indeed it does. *grin* And that gives
me a good laugh, and makes the situation less
annoying.
But if you're seriously worrying about whether
people can distinguish fantasy from reality, I
highly recommend that you get some professional
counseling -- strong doubts like that might
indicate that you're the one having trouble
coping, and it's best to talk to somebody about
that and get it under control quickly.
