Fancels are fine... they only get to be a problem
when you have people trying to pass them off as
the real thing.
Like others have mentioned, you might want to
give it a shot yourself. It can be labor-and-time
intensive, but you can work at your pace and do
it exactly the way you want... though the cost of
materials and time might make it less efficient
than paying someone else for their trouble. :o)
To find a fancel artist, you can go to:
http://www.cels.org/cgi-
bin/asearch/var=TCAT=cf&op=0&template=category.htm
l&start=1&nb=25
and go through the sites. Some of them are no
longer active, but it's good to see what people
are capable of, and compare. When you narrow down
who you want to request from, it's good to be
familiar with the variety of artists, styles, and
price ranges available. For example, if you want
a cel of a mech or something, you'll probably
want to ask an artist who has a lot of mechs in
their portfolio. If you want a cel of a person,
it's a little easier. ^_^ It's always good to
shop around and find a good match before you try
and commission anyone. |
