I had something VERY similar happen to me! I'm
one of the few people who collects Eatman cels.
(*waves to the other two fans*) An online site
updated with several SERIOUSLY nice Eatman cels,
including two backgrounded pans which especially
drew my attention. They were expensive, so I just
watched them for the time being, figuring they
wouldn't sell. (And they didn't.)
I kept watching them for probably half a year,
all the time wanting them but feeling like I
needed to "find a reason" to spend that much on
them. It was about then that an auction popped up
on Yahoo Japan for some Eatman genga. The couple
poor quality pictures with the auction showed
little. But it was only 1000yen, so I decided if
the seller accepted to ship to me, I would take a
chance on it. I asked, the seller agreed, and I
took the lot for the opening bid.
When the package finally arrived, I opened it to
find a couple EXCELLENT quality, very complete
genga sets that weren't even pictured in the
auction. . . and which matched the pan cels I'd
been wanting for so long!! Not only that, but
(with only three exceptions) the other incomplete
genga sets in the lot ALL matched the other cels
in that online dealer's update. I was stunned!
Needless to say, I went out and bought the two
cels I'd been watching. Fate had spoken! ^_^
Many Sharp Smiles,
