What exactly was sold separately? The exact
matching sketch that was photocopied to make the
cel? That seems to be what people are assuming
was sold separately, and I'm 100% NOT in favor of
those being separated from their cels either.
But up above, you say that it was a *layout* that
was sold separately. Those are a different story
since they do NOT match any one cel in a given
sequence. (Although they might look more like one
frame than another.) Thus, unless it's an A1end
cel and it's layout, the layout "matches" someone
else's cel from the same sequence just as much as
it "matches" yours. So I would not necessarily
expect it to be sold with the cel.
That said, if I were selling a cel and I had the
layout from the same sequence, I most likely would
sell it WITH the cel. The only case where I
wouldn't, would be to keep it with another cel I
owned from the same sequence. In that respect, I
see it much like a matching background. . .If I
have two cels from a sequence, a layout, and a
matching background, and I decide I'm going to
sell one of the cels, then the background and
layout will stay with whatever cel I decide to
keep for myself, irregardless of which cel they
originally came with when purchased.
