Obviously his taste is a lot different from mine.

At least they seem to have less closeup cels than
the earlier ones.
But still...I think the thing I miss most in the
artwork in Rilezu cels compared to production
cels is that there not many Rilezu cels (to me)
that have much emotional content. I'm sure this
is hampered by the limitations you mentioned in
your other post, but this is something I
definitely miss.
In many of the Rilezu cels that I've seen, the
characters look like they are just staring at
something or standing there posing. Sometimes
they smile, look sad or react to something, but
the cel usually lacks context because the
characters are often pictured alone in the cel.
Even when there are two characters pictured in
the cel, there is often little emotional linkage
between the two of them. They might both be
sitting on a bench looking emotionless or maybe
one person is just standing in the back of the
cel looking unexcited (like they are they are
almost a part of the background). The comedies
seem to do a little better in this area than the
dramas (or maybe I just expect more emotional
content from drama anime cels).
I noticed that the Ai Yori Aoshi Rilezu cels had
a higher amount of emotional content in them
compared to the other titles though (and I'm not
even a Ai Yori Aoshi fan). ^_^ |
