watching bidding wars on YJ that you aren't
participating in?
Maybe I am just really demented, but sometimes I
bookmark a cel I like or know will be liked by a
lot and even though I suspect the price will be
more than it's worth to me, I check it near the
end to see the current price. You never know,
maybe everyone else who likes it is tapped out at
the moment and I'll get lucky.
I am always amused that even though Yahoo adds 10
minutes to the end of the auction when bids are
placed under that mark, there are still many
people who wait for the end, hoping other people
won't bother and will have judged the going price
too low. Or perhaps they actually enjoy a good
old fashioned bidding war, with no real time
limit and only dollars determining the winner.
Anyway, so you go check the auction and the price
is higher than you think it's worth, but there
are two to three people in a bidding war. The
timer on the auction goes up up up, right along
with the price. Even though you could go do
something productive for the next hour and then
come back and see the final price, you find
yourself fixated. You hit refresh every couple
minutes and watch the price soar.
Maybe, not even knowing the bidders, you for some
reason find yourself rooting for one of them over
the other, because you like their bidding style.
I dunno, maybe I am truly deranged. I find myself
doing this every could months and today was one
of those days. I wonder how many other people are
possibly watching the same auction and are not
the people bidding.
Hope I haven't scared anyone into thinking I have
bigger issues than I actually do. =p
