I, too, have put in a overly high bid on Y!J,
only to have it burn me. Twice I've bid an
amount that, in my heart, I truely did not wish
to pay, but instead considered a amount that
was "buffered" by a few thousand yen just so I
would be sure to win the cel. In both instances,
someone came within 100 yen of my high bid and
stopped. As I sat there watching my bid go
higher and higher, I kept thinking to myself "If
you're going to bid that high, please just outbid
me!" But they didn't. It's almost as if they
knew how high I had bid and drove up the price to
my max just so I would had to pay it! Of course,
that's just a little conspiracy theory I cooked
up in my head to better cope with the fact that
what I did was idiotic. ^_^;
The first time that I did it, the cel went
straight to the for sale pile. Looking back, it
was clearly an impulse buy. I had recently lost
out on a few cels. To make myself feel better, I
was going to win that cel at all costs. This is a
very bad reason to buy a cel. Never again.
In the second instance, I really did want the
cel. While I love the cel and bare no guilt, I
know now that if I would've been a little more
patient, I would have eventually scored a similar
one for a better price.
I guess the moral of the story is to resist the
temptation of overbidding on Y!J, even if you
think the cel will never reach that price. Pause
to think about what an insane collector you
are...there's bound to be others out there just
like you! ^_^ |
