> AMG cels seemed to be mired in doubt.
It's only concerning the OVAs. But yes, when
buying a AMG OVA cel, there is always a
possibility that it's an AIC reproduction cel.
> Clarification of AIC marketing practices
There is nothing realy special about that : When
they made those reproductions, cels didn't had
such a high value. Later, everybody agree that it
was a mistake and they should have do something so
that those cels couldn't be confused with
production one. But it was already too late and
nobody, including AIC, had a list of those cels
that were reproduced.
AIC is by far not the only studio to have done
such things : TOEI did it with some Sailor Moon
cels (perhaps others too ?). Very recently, Studio
Pierrot did it for several of their anime,
including KOR, YuYu Hakusho, Hyper Police and a
couple of others. I seems to remember that there
is also some on Utena...
All those cels have one thing in common : they are
copies of real cel, made by the studio, on regular
cel sheet using the same material. Which mean
that you can't make the differance with a
production just by looking at them.
At least, after their first mistake, AIC stoped
producing such copies. Which is not the case of
some other studio.
