e.g. for listing, for reserve pricing, for an
extra picture, for having a buy it now price
which once someone bids disappears, for a closing
auction cost, et al. There are PLENTY OF reasons
not to love evilbay as a seller. However they do
offer a good venue where lots of people go to buy
stuff. I completely agree that one can find good
cels and other items. BUT on the same side of the
coin it's evil b/c this venue due to its immense
popularity literally encourages bidding wars and
snipping. These last two occurances do not help
make bidding on evilbay or any other online
auction site a pleasure whatsoever! Yes these are
the realities of auctions, but IMHO when buyers
say happy bidding I practically cringe. As a
buyer no one wants to pay anymore than they have
to and if they can work an under the table deal,
wonderful. However more often than not, sellers
want buyers to stick to the venue and get caught
up in bidding wars. For myself evilbay is a love-
hate relationship, I for one cannot love it
wholeheartedly knowing what the service
encourages and perpetuates. But on the other hand
I do appreciate how it draws many people to its
site, considerably moreso than pitiful Yahoo
U.S.A. So when I weigh the scales of just
how "evil" evilbay is, for myself, there is more
bad than good. Everyone has differing
experiences, but take them with a grain of salt.
If you disagree thats cool, no need to flame.
Just remember not everyone has been as fortunate
as you as a buyer or a seller on ebay. PEACE! |
