Hi Drac, 

Do you use the color picture or custom settings 
when you scan in an item?  I have the same 
scanner, and use custom settings.  It saved the 
color and dpi settings automatically for me, I 
didn't do anything special I don't think.. been 
a while since I set them... hehe ^^;
