In principle I'd agree, but the bad thing is none
of the other services (Yahoo PayDirect
included) has as large a customer base as PayPal,
because Paypal did it first, and managed to grab a
large share of the market. It's sort of the same
as the fact that if you want the best sale, you
use Ebay as your online auction site, because it
was there first, and gets the most traffic even
though other auction sites may be run better. I
know plenty of people that don't care to use more
than one service of that sort, and they already
have PayPal, and more people use Paypal than any
other online paying service, so if you don't use
Paypal, you end up turning away a great deal of
possible customers. I rarely bid on auctions where
people don't take Paypal- it's such a hassle to
pay other ways, and I don't care to have more than
one of these services handle my money. It has to
be a hell of a cel to get me to send a money
order, and no auction is going to get me to sign
up for Billpoint, Bidpay, or Yahoo paydirect. |
