I sat at school and watched the second tower fall
the moment it happened. I still hear Dan Rather
saying "There are no words for this" and just
silence as it fell. I had been in shock up until
that moment, and I just started sobbing. My best
friend had to keep herself from wretching.
I remember watching as they switched coverage to
LA. Family members, friends, and lovers were all
arriving at the airport to pick up people on the
flights that had been hijacked. Due to the time
difference, it was early morning. None of them
knew that everyone was dead.
And I remember hearing one thing that sent ice
through my veins. At about 3:00 PM they were
talking about public schools finally being let
out in NYC, and saying that they would need to
provide care for those children whose
parents "would not be coming to pick them up".
Dear god. I can't even imagine going to school,
and then waiting for my parents who never come,
and learning in that way. That's just horrible.
I don't know about you guys, but this is just
messed up.

P.S. My mom always said "Baby, when you don't
laugh, you cry." In light of that, here's an
amusing comment to help lift the modd a bit on
the subject of George W that my friend said. We
all know it's true.
"He's shaking his 'World Disaster' Magic-8 ball
and pissing himself as we speak."
