Although nothing is evacuated yet, my husband 
works right next door to one of the buildings on 
alert (the Prudential Center). Logan airport is 
completely closed and all planes grounded.

I also have a friend in NYC who frequents the 
area of the World Trade Center.

I'd like to encourage everyone in New York and 
Washington DC especially to PLEASE STAY OFF THE 
PHONES and off the streets! I'm watching CNN now 
and I see a hell of a lot of people just milling 
around - don't be one of them. I'm also hearing 
reports that no one can get though on phones 
anywhere in the city. . . Emergency personnel 
need those resources now. . . If I can bite my 
fingernails and not call when I might have lost a 
friend I've known almost half my life, so can 
everyone else.
