There is no mention made either when she *knows*
it's not a matching background. When a Miyu cel
was posted with a non-matching background (I had
seen it on her "preview" page, before the
auction), I wrote her to let her know so that she
could mark it accordingly. No mention of it was
made on the auction page when she finally did
auction that cel.
I don't think all these non-matching backgrounds
were with the cels when they came to her. . . For
example, you almost *never* see Miyu cels with
non-matching backgrounds. I have seen only two:
hers and another that popped up on Ebay. (In the
case of the second, the Ebay seller told me that
they had added the background themselves to get a
higher price for the cel - so the background had
*not* come with it.)
Also, anyone watching the Assault auctions will
have probably noted the same thing I did, which
is that the number of backgrounded cels she sells
has increased astonishingly with the increasing
availability of inexpensive loose backgrounds. A
coincidence?? I think not. . .
It's just more of the "buyer beware" crap that I
completely do not agree with. ~_~ When I am
selling something, I state *everything* I know
about the item, as well as notate if there is
something I *don't* know and/or haven't checked.
However, the best advice for cel collectors is to
know your anime shows that you collect from VERY
well, or refer to someone who does. Don't feel
embarassed to write and ask for the help of
someone who either knows more, or has tapes they
can check, etc. I've had people write me for
verification of Miyu things - twice has come the
question: "Is this Larva really OVA?" (Once the
answer was yes, but the second time it was no and
the person was *REALLY* glad they'd asked!!) And
when I wanted to bid on a Sailor Pluto cel on
Yahoo Japan, I turned to another Sailor Moon fan
for her opinion of it's legitamacy, since I love
Sailor Pluto, but don't know the show as a whole
very well at all. Other fans won't mind helping
out! ^_^
