Okay, I'll admit it, I've always had a hard time
getting rid of things. Heck, there are boxes of
stuff that I've dragged around from house to house
ever since I was an early teen, without ever
looking into 'em, just because I know there are
good memories in there.
Well, cel collecting has finally broken me of THAT
habit. *grin* Because when the choice is between
not having enough cash for what you hope may be
listed in the upcoming Chaos update, and, say,
selling off that Battle of the Planets lunchbox or
Labyrinth plushie set on eBay, the boxes open once
again and more random crap from my youth is turned
into negotiable cash.
I also have the advantage of being one of the
older folks on the forum, and my hubby and I are
fairly established in our professions (videogame
development for him, videogame journalism and
scripting for me). So there's usually extra
income for anime DVDs and the odd cel here and
there.
And finally, of course, when something truly
extraordinary pops up, like that self-detonating
Heero cel that Anime Game listed last month, I can
usually find one or two cels in my collection that
don't seem quite as cool as that, and can
be sold to raise funds.
Your mileage may vary, but this is mine. ^_^
(The following cel required the sacrifice of two
Slayers cels, one Bakuretsu Hunters, and a Tenchi.
And I have to say it was worth every one.)
