Re: cels as antiques? (and the definition of art for those who misunderstood) (Mon Sep 11 17:07:26 2000 )

Never liked Macross, never seen Atom Boy and
Kimba...so I don't really think they are a sure
fire bet to survive either (I'm from a young-un
generation too) I mean anime will most likely
become a very selective niche again so that
almost any series has a chance at retaining some
kind of value to some collector. The price of
cels, yes they be higher for the older series
simply because the cels are already rare and hard
to find, but for some collector 50 years down the
road it might be worth it to pay $1000 for that
hard to find Tenchi cel (maybe the rest will be
in personal collections or destroyed by then
*shrug*) I can see Miyazaki becoming a
classic..it's really hard not to like his
movies...maybe in a comedy vein Rumiko Takahashi
works have a good chance of retaining a strong
following. I'd prefer to watch anime and then
when I enjoy the show get a cel, rather then sit
there and look at a Tiffany lamp all day :) Maybe
that's just me
