Re: Re: I don't agree... (Wed Nov 8 04:58:16 2000 )

"Maybe if people don't bid outrageous prices on
Yahoo, setting a precedent, then when people
like Rick go over, he won't have to pay such high
prices and resell for higher."

Define outrageous. What is considered over the top
for you? Do you really think that the prices on
YJ will affect how much Rick get his cels in Japan
(presumably)? Why blame the buyers? Most of the
cels on YJ go for way less than what overseas
dealers will be asking for. I would say that
prices there are resonable -- compared to those
outside of Japan(and I'm sure those who bid
there will agree with me).

"When you bid high on Japan, these Japanese think
that is what Americans pay and so they resell to
dealers for higher."

Again, I don't agree. This is a sweeping statement
. Who are the you? Is our anonymous individual
here referring to all cel collectors alike? Are
you basing the point you made above purely on
assumption or on experience itself?

"It isn't about being GREEDY. It is about making
 a living."

I don't think "making a living" justifies the fact
that he pushes the price of his inventory wayyy
above the normal amount that it would go for. Okay
I need to make a living too, who doesn't?! But the
fact that people are noticing a sharp rise in
Rick's prices say something. C'mon, be frank. He
could make a 25% reduction on his cels and STILL
make a living, ne(but they would still be
considered outrageous, haha)? If no one buys his
cels, it shows something. Simple as that.
