First of all, don't bash the 1st TV series!! *hehe..sorry
but that's my favorite, the OVA's aren't everything*  
Also this is slighty off topic, but CN is showing ALL of Tenchi
going from OVA, to 1st TV series to Shin Tenchi although
no word about the movies.  This way new viewers will see
the good, the bad, and the ugly.  Then they can pick their
favorite art style and go cel shopping ^^
