Re: The state of affairs.... (Wed Jun 28 02:54:14 2000 )

Aye, it's becoming insane. Great way to keep me on my cel
diet, though. >_^

I know there's been a lot of talk concerning WHAT the networks
are going to do to the anime that is starting to trickle into
"mainstream" (e.g. CCS - which I have YET to catch on TV!
When the hell is it on?! Well, I'm not a dub fan anyway),
from bad dubbing to the cost of collectables. Sad sad sad.

But, like someone else said on a different thread, I think,
American animation collectors are QUITE used to paying the
premium buck for Disney [crap], WB and other US studio cels.
And if you've visited any of those galleries.... My god...

Here's another thing (I'm guilty of occasionally visiting a
cel shop ;_; can't help it!) - has anyone noticed the markup
of prices on non-OVA Washu cels on Japanese sites? Is it just
me? The Shi...shi..Shin stuff, I mean. >_< I've always felt
the prices on most of the Japanese dealer sites are much more
reasonable than many of the prices in the US sites (depends on
series, blah blah blah), but specifically for Washu the prices
seems to have gone up. Argh!!

I'm not sure what to make of all of this. A part of me is
actually hoping that studios will quickly move to non-cel
production or contractually refuse to release cels, at least
it would give me a great reason to collect cheaper posters
and shitajiki because the prices would REALLY be insane. The
steady climb just has me antsy... @_@

p.s. Washurocks - nice page ^_-
