...?! Uh, I hate to have to point this out to
you, but Escaflowne's been available uncut on VHS
for about 18 months. And the DVD release will be
completely uncut, as well.
Ditto for Card Captor Sakura, on the DVD release.

This is fine with me. Most American cartoons
(with a few exceptions) blow chunks. More anime
on TV is a good thing.
<>
Uh, whatever, but you're wrong on that one--
Bandai Entertainment licensed the show for
broadcast from Sunrise, they have the copyright
on it.
<>
The edited version of Escaflowne is sanctioned by
Sunrise. It's in the contracts.
<>
It'll be unedited, only there'll be some name
changes... Kenshin will be Speed Racer, Sanosuke
will be Racer X, Kaoru will be Trixie, Hajime
Saitoh will be Chim-chim, and Makoto Shishio will
be Captain Terror.
Seriously, it's totally uncut. Ditto for the
OVAs and movie. (The English-dubbed version of
the OVAs is titled Samurai X, presumably to tie
in with the broadcast version if Sony manages to
sell it for TV. Dumb move, IMO, because if the
show gets on TV and is popular, you'll have tons
of 12-year-olds getting the savagely-violent
OVAs.) |
