Hello I think the thing which happens is that, for example, there is an auction on YahooJapan that is hovering around the $40 range for a cel that is probably worth about $70. Then an American who HAS to have the cel comes in and bids $100. Suppose they did not read the 'seller will not ship internationally' and bid anyway. Their bid will be cancelled, but the current bid will still be the maximum the second bidder had bid, rather than the top amount of the bidder below that. Let me state categorically that if Americans have complete access to Yahoo Japan, the result will be that there won't be any bargains there (although there will still be cels you wouldn't often see in the states) AND there will be a lot of Japanese collectors with an even more intense dislike of Americans than they may already have. You have to know how frustrating it is to be willing to pay $200 for something, although it is more than you should, more than you want to pay. But then you see at the end of the auction that you are paying $200, even though the next highest bid was $45!! You just lost $150 because the cel was $200 rather than $50. Now, frustrated and angry, you look to see what could possibly be up with that. Then you see it... someone came in and bid the auction up, and then had their bid cancelled because they didn't bother to read that the seller WOULD NOT SHIP INTERNATIONALLY and they were from another country. That has /got/ to be extremely frustrating. And... here is an even greater warning... if you can't read Japanese, you can't see in the description that says "it is not this cel, but one similar". You can't see in the description that it says "This is the cel before my sister spilled tea all over it and the colors smeared together". You can't see where it says "I made this cel myself out of gum and toenail polish". Further, if the cel is not as requested, or if you send your money and get nothing in return, you have no recourse, because since you are already breaking the rules, it will be very easy to consider you at fault out of hand. Now, I do not mean to be harsh about this, but please consider carefully what you are getting into before you sign up and PLEASE, bid responsibly. Ryochan |
