People who don't know much about cels tend to price bad cels a lot because they think any cel should be worth at least a hundred bucks just BECAUSE it's animation art. They may also be used to selling American art because the value for cels in America is usually higher because the cels are harder to come by. But for obscure anime collectors, this can be a blessing in diguise. My favorite cel, a Miyazaki cel from the final episode of the 2nd Lupin III series in 1980, was sold to my friend who bought it for a present for me for $150. If the people at Nichibei had known it was a Miyazaki cel, they would have charged about three times that. O_o Of course, on an auction site like ebay it doesn't make much of a difference if other people realize the value of a underpriced cel -_-; -valerie |
