With a number of anime conventions coming up and many
notable artists as guests, I'm sure a number of the
collectors here on this forum will be bringing their
cels to be signed.
A thought occurred to me as I was trying to decide what
cels to bring. (I've never had a cel signed before)
Although it would great to get the autographs, I'm kind
of hesitant to possibly 'mar' my cel by getting the
signature directly on it.
At the same time, I would be thrilled to get the actual
autograph of the person responsible for creating the art.
So, my question is this:
Do most people here get the cels signed directly and
not mind? How do you all feel about the art of the cel
being altered by a signature? Does it compromise or
increase the value of a cel?
Since this would be for a cel I'm planning on keeping
and enjoying forever (versus potential resale value which
is not my intention) I'm wondering if I should possibly
cut a separate sheet of acetate, overlay it onto the cel
and get that signed instead. That way, I can look at the
cel with the signature, or remove the sheet so I can enjoy
the art.
But I'm not sure how I feel about this, so I'd welcome
other people's perspectives on this.
Thanks ^_^ |
