Same thoughts on fanart cels here. Beautiful? Yes. Worth paying for? No. I can't say I would stop collecting entirely if/when studios go all digital. I would still probably bring in a sketch here and there. . . I like my dougas quite a bit, even simple ones. But I would have a tough time convincing myself to pay all terribly much for one. $50 seems a lot for only a douga, but on the other hand, it will be a cold day you-know-where before I put down any kind of money on a repro cel. :P I really hope that studios, at least some of them, see the value to cel produced animation. It's usually easy to tell the difference between cel produced animation and computer produced (either by just coloring the "cels" on the computer, or by completely drawing everything using digital methods). Cel produced animation is generally much better - not as flat looking on the screen and with a greater use of color, especially for detailing. Also cel produced animation sometimes has a greater range of motion. . . Once a studio gets lazy enough to use computers for everything, the quality of the animation overall tends to suffer.
