Well... lets hope that some studios will keep using cels... I think computer animation isn't nearly as impressive or beautiful as hand-drawn cels! And I agree that douga, genga, and repros are not worth collecting alone... I would never pay more than $50 for any drawing without the cel. True, from an aritstic standpoint the animator is actualyl drawing the sketch and not the cel... but I love pausing on my cels and telling my friends "I have that!" You just cant do that with a sketch.... Now, I did buy ONE drawing that had nothing to do with a cel, but it was by Watsuki Nobuhiro (Kenshin manga artist). Going back to Futurama, I might buy a sketch if it was done BY MATT GROENING. A sketch by some random animator, even a key animator, seems worthless without the cel to go with it. I might buy a sketch by Miyazaki or something, but only if I knew it was BY Miyazaki not jsut from his movie... I'm sure that explains what I'm trying to say! Of course thats just my opinion... but there will always be cels around to collect, if only from older series... Tifa |
