The problem is not similar to fansub. With fansub, you publish the whole produce, just adding subtitle. So obviously, that's illegal. When you do a fancel, it belong to you. It's your work and you didn't reused the work of someone else. Also, you are not reselling a produce that is owned and sold by someone else. Now, the holder of the copyright on the character/design may object to you using it.... And it already happened... For example, a guy made icons of characters from some well know cartoon. He drawed the icons himself, creating totaly new pictures (didn't used an existing picture that he cleaned and resized. He just drawed new pictures of similar-looking characters). But the holder of the copyright on the characters menaced to sue him if he didn't stop distributing (not even selling) those pictures... Cheers, Yann Stettler |
