Hmmm, cel image stealing seems to be a really hot topic these days, though I know it has been happening for a long time. The problem is, it's only poor etiquette on the part of the site owners to totally ignore someone's wishes and not even credit them. It's not illegal, so notn much can be done, except point out how incredibly upstuck and lame they are. One group did ask to use my cels for their compositions, and I said 'okay.' They linked to my site too. True they didn't give an alt tag or marker to which image was mine, but they made an effort to be friendly. They were polite. All it took was an email or two and a line of html. Sailormoon.org appears to have one of mine, or atleast incredibly close in sequence. It's obviously not my scan, but perhaps they got it before I bought it. They appear to have a lot stolen from dealers. I couldn't check out too many because of their quota. It's too bad the people at sailormoon.org state that they don't believe in the 'don't steal my images' thing. It's very convenient for them, they have banners on every page of their library... some from Ubid and Amazon.com. They even claim that they have "reasonable rates" for their ad banners. It seems they hope to make a little money off of the operation, whether it's to fund their site or just for profit, I don't know. I'm surprised with all their sermons about 'good webpages' they don't bother about the redundancy of images, once again, convenient for them. Keys Perhaps I shouldn't put up anymore sailormoon cel images, in my gallery or for sale. I really don't want to have anything to do with sailormoon.org |
