Re: Anyone have some good information on matting cels? (Tue Nov 24 05:27:27 1998

You can purchase 11"x14" precut mat boards($3). Most of them are acid free, but in order to check for sure, you can purchase an acid tester marker ($6). Cels expand and contract with climate in your dwelling, so you have to allow them to do that by attaching them to the mat board only on the top two edges and using acid free-tape ($2). An 11"x14" frame ($13) can also be purchased ready made and the glass easily replaced with UV protective glass. A sheet of acid free colored paper ($0.10)can be used behind the cel if there is no backround. I've acid tested sketches that came with some of my cels and they are not acid free, so if your drawings are not perminently adhered to your cels, I suggest you keep them separate. All these supplies can be purchased at your local craft store. Metaphor (is a cel by any other name still a cel?) |
