I talked to Stephen reguarding the backgrounds.  He said that the person from whom he purchased them couldn't validate as to if they were original or not (the backgrounds, that is).  They are OAV cels.  Do they command the price that Taro is asking?  I don't know.  I've heard that a close-up of Belldandy goes for around $500 in Japan and that's without a background.  If that is true, then I guess that the price they're asking is about right in compared to the market.  However, I wouldn't pay that for an AMG cel.  They are rare, but it's not like this was some type of ground-breaking animation.  Even then, I wouldn't pay it.  I can't see paying $1177 for an anime cel.
