Like other people have said earlier, laser backgrounds
are now used in actual production more often than before.
A few studios do their backgrounds actually on computers,
then they print them out and use in production. In
computers, those softwares (Photoshop) can do more
variety of special effects like blurring. Some studios
do the other way which they hand-painted them first, then
scan and modify on computers.
Nowaday, more studios mix the hand-painted
and laser-printed backgrounds together for production.
I have a couple of cels that have
two layers of backgrounds. The cut-out background is
hand-painted while the regular background is laser printed.
Personally, I don't like laser-printed backgrounds. If
you frame them, they look good, but if you hold them in
your hands, they lost the sense of realism :) |
