I think that they said it clearly in the email they
sent to people with their URL.

As for a password, it's useful only if people don't
give it around. I don't realy see the differance between
not giving a password and not giving a URL...

Also setting a password protection can't be done without
the company hosting the webpage doing it. Which cost
money. A system like Taro takes a lot of time to set-up
and not everybody can do it.
Pocket _want to avoid spending_ too much time, that's
why they don't sell more cels and don't want to have
more customers. Setting up a password stuff with customers
account and such would result in the reverse : spending
more time. (and money).
