Hi. I was at the post office yesterday, getting
quotes on the options to another country. The
clerk (not a newbie clerk, but a "veteran" postal
employee) told me that Global Priority, Global
Express (our version of EMS,right?), or even
registered Air-Mail, when you say "trackable", it
means they are only tracked as far as the Customs
office in this country and are then "untrackable"
since other countries' postal systems deliver
them. (And yet they have no problem tracking an
international money order - because it gets
returned after being "cashed"?)
He said it's the same for registered mail going
out of country. (Which would mean it's not worth
insuring anything going out, since nothing can be
proved.)
Then how come EMS mail coming in is touted as
being trackable to delivery?
Was he in error? Is Fed Ex or UPS Global really
the only things you can depend on in this world,
if you might want to track something?
